Run Memories

When I was in high school I played field hockey and ran track.  I was always a much better long distance runner than short but by the time field hockey was over, all the cross country girls got the long distances on track, which they should have.  I got stuck with the 400 meter.  Honestly, I hated it.  It is like a super long sprint and I couldn't sprint.  Either way I did love having something to do and I loved the track girls so I stayed with it.  I never got better, but I did have fun!

Training for field hockey we would do a run almost everyday.  It was the cross country trail, I think about 1.5 miles.  I always did well, but I remember being exhausted after each run.  Well this weekend I had to stay with my gram and since I was in my home town, I ran the cross country trail with my dog.  It was crazy.  I ran it so easily, I could have run it another 4 times for sure.  It made me laugh.  I was more than 12 years older than the last time I ran it and I felt so much stronger.  It made me feel really good that I am moving in a positive direction the older I get.  It was really hot out and my dog was not going to do another lap, so I put him in the shade and ran some laps around the track.  I only got two in because you can't have dogs on the track and when people came we left.  Only 2 miles on Sat but felt good!

Sunday I rode my mom's bike.  She is out of town and that is why my sister and I are taking turns taking care of my grandma.  It was ok.  I do enjoy riding a bike, but riding alone with no place specific to go is boring.  Especially when you are riding around a senior village!  Everything looks the same!

Monday my sister woke me up early to run the Seaside boardwalk.  It's five miles.  When we got there she thought we were walking it, but I wanted to run, so I ran about 3.5 miles of it then I walked the rest with her.  (she walked and I ran the boards and on my way back she turned around and we walked together)  It wasn't long but it was satisfying.  I'm going to do a 3 or 4 miler tonight.  I am in the very early stages of training and want to make sure I keep up with the pace.  I do not want to fall behind in any of my training and Thursday I go for a septoplasty so I need to make sure I get a lot of running in prior to Thurs.  My doc said it will take me about 3-4 days before I can run and any distance is no problem!  Thank god!

On another note I saw a great movie this weekend, The Exotic Marigold Hotel.  It was adorable and a very lovely story.  I definitely recommend it!

Year of th wedding is Over!

Well June 16th was my last bride!  I have been the maid of honor in three weddings from Oct - Jun and I loved each and every second of it, but it was exhausting!

My girlfriend got married at a day wedding and it was definitely interesting.

Pros:
The day was amazing so the sunshine over everything was amazing
We got home earlier than a night wedding
Cons:
Bridal Party all had to get up super early
It was shorter

The food, music, drinks, etc all felt the same.  B & I are doing a night wedding (Friday), but a day wedding is definitely a nice option.  I really would never be able to get moving and shaking as early as my girl Christy did though.  She was such a cute gorgeous bride!

I have been slacking on the exercise, just hear and there.  I am at the level I should be at re: marathon training, but it is so early that it is a low amount of mileage.  I have lost more weight though.  It is really weird.  Our scale needed new batteries so I haven't been weighing myself for weeks.  I got a physical and I was down 5 pounds!!!  I have gotten back into the 160s!!!!  It's crazy.  I was 189lbs in the beginning of Dec.  Now I'm at the top of 160s but that is OK.  I will get there, it's getting to be really easy and with the increased running I know it will come down fast!

Until next time little blog of hope!

Sometimes you need a push

I am a big fan of either wake up, workout, or get home after work change and workout.  Coming home and relaxing usually means I do not workout. Yesterday was turning into one of those days.  I had plans to go running with a friend of mine and she was running late.  About an hour late.  Well after I got home and relaxed a bit, I realized hey, I'm hungry.  I ate three string cheeses and started to heat up some garden burgers.  While I was doing that I texted my friend that I was hungry and couldn't make it.  Well she responded with a well needed push.  Earn your Dinner!  ahahah So I put the heated garden burgers in the fridge and met her for a run.  It was an amazing day out and we did about 3.5 miles.  I was so happy I did it and didn't even eat the garden burgers when I got home.  I actually got a little sick from eating the cheese before I ran!  I defiantly do not recommend fueling yourself with cheese prior to any workout ha!  Tonight I am going to do another run, then tomorrow will be spin and off to a bachelorette!  Yes ANOTHER bachelorette!  This year has been crazy busy with weddings, but after June 16th I do not have any good friends that are getting married, so it will be a relaxing summer....hopefully!
